WW2 landing lights table

It’s not often I get asked to make something that may have had a vital role in helping our relatives come home safe, this piece is part of a collaboration with @garywallisantique66 he asked me to give this piece a makeover and repurpose the item so it could be saved.

For those of who you have sent in your guesses for what this piece is,
The answer is WW2 runway landing lights used during the war when blackouts where in force, as some of you may remember there were periods during the nighttime when no lights were allowed on incase of enemy aircraft flying overhead trying to drop bombs.

These lights were used to help light up small strips of runway to allow our brave men and women to land their aircrafts at night and then they would be removed to keep the airfield safe.

The slits at the end producing a projected light across the floor, our now being illuminated with LED’s to give a reminder to its heritage, this is a fantastic piece of history and now decorative furniture with its toughened custom made glass top, satin black frame and clear coat cylinders preserving its colour and patina give a unique touch to a interior setting.

Also seated in the centre is a corrugated piece of glass which can be used as centre piece for bowls, candles etc, this is actually from the lens inside one of the cylinders that after nearly 80 years still remained intact.

It will be available on the website shortly
